The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) is a state agency charged with building and strengthening Wisconsin's workforce in the 21st century and beyond. The Division of Employment and Training (DET) is looking for a qualified applicant to fill their Employment and Training Specialist position. **_This position is located at 1900 Center Ave, Janesville, WI._**
DET's vision is to connect employers to Wisconsin talent and develop clients to meet demands driven by the labor market on skills, competency, and credentials requirements. DET provides services to businesses and job seekers, through the many Job Centers located throughout Wisconsin and also through the Job Center of Wisconsin employment web site. **Position Summary:** The Employment and Training Specialist is a critical member of Wisconsin Job Service's staff. Wisconsin Job Service works to promote economic and workforce development, employment and training, and career development. Primary responsibilities for this people-centered position include: the provision of high quality customer service such as skills training, case management, mentoring, job search assistance, placement, career development, follow up services, and career advancement to a variety of underemployed and unemployed jobseekers and career-changing workers. Additional responsibilities include researching and developing current employment trends curriculum, preparation and follow-up to workshops, data tracking, and facilitation of group workshops for a diverse population.
While the position provides services primarily in Job Centers, it is also expected to travel and provide outreach services to high schools, technical colleges, community based organizations, libraries and other locations as necessary. Services are provided one on one and in groups; in person, via the internet, and over the phone.

Due to the nature of this position, a criminal background check may be required prior to appointment.
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e. a US citizen or national or a lawful permanent resident) at the time of appointment. DWD does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. This is not a contract position. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States. Travel throughout the assigned Workforce Development Area is required.

* Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders through oral and written methods.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Experience with personal computers and computer applications, such as Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, etc.

*Salary:* Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin compensation plan in effect at the time of appointment. Starting salary is between $17.21 - $22.00 per hour or $35,796 - $45,760 annually. This classification is in pay range/schedule 12-64. A 12 month probationary period is required.
